NEW BUILD

Genii Evolution.

NEW BUILD

2023 Dinghy Show will bill be displaying our new Merlin which is bristling with new developments for all to see.

Tim Saxton and May Henderson, sailing Balou 3807 won three championship races in 2022 in light, medium and heavy conditions proving the capabilities of the Genii Evolution hull shape. Ed Chapman (new to the class 2022) and Chris Kilsby achieved a 7th and a 3rd in their first two Championship races, having quickly modified and fitted a replacement mast the day before!

Our latest Merlin design is in the hands of Nick Craig and Alan Roberts. They sailed their Genii Evolution to a clear victory in the 2017 Nationals.

Interestingly, the first race was held in sub 9 knot conditions, with Nick and Alan leading from the first mark, making history in their Merlin racing career, by winning a major race in light air.

BACKGROUND

In the 80’s and 90’s (hay days) we were producing championship-winning Merlins, with four different designs in total. Three of these were championship winners, the fourth design (only one ever built) came a very close second in the 1985 championship.

We are the first company to design, build and win FRP construction, the original Canterbury Tales. This created a major step change in Merlin history.

Never before has a boat building/design company, come back after their hay day, with a new championship-winning design and build, as we achieved in 2017.

We are looking forward to driving the performance on our design further forward as we are still in the early stages.

Any further information about the design, quality and build method; please call and we will be happy to discuss and develop with you.
